hi    first try and unscrew the collar holding the thumb screw in ,it barely sticks thru on the inside of the chrome ring, you might have to hold it with a needle nose pliers or cutting pliers, if you can't get the collar off,   take a small punch and gently punch it out, be careful not to chip or brake the side plate. a new thumb screw comes with a tiny threaded collar, usually brass in color,  insert the new thumb screw , on the inside install the spring then thread the threaded collar on, if it gets a little tough and you can't thread it all the way down holding it with your fingers, take a small cutting pliers and gently hold the collar being careful not to pinch it out or shape.  you should have no problem, good luck.  harryk
