Some reels are not designed for a 300% overload.

That reel looks like a bunch on the boat that I work on. you tell them how to use their Thumb to stop a reel from doing that but they think their Thumb is only for sucking on.

That's not the first time I see a graphite crap, I mean reel blow up. Going to need more than a thumb to save that baby :-\.

Wow! :o  Gotta be some story behind that!  Can't wait to hear it.

Cow YFT and 150lb line, cow takes off, drag moved past strike and pow!!!!!!  I was standing 5' away and got peppered with pieces, and it sounded like a rifle.

On the same trip I pinched a nut when my plate failed.

That'll fill a freezer quite nicely... great catch, Lee!
You don't wear the Hawaii Five-O shirts like Dominick? ... I hear they calm Tuna down when they hit the deck ;)
Nice fish,

The trip before I lost 22 wahoo, this trip I didn't hook as many but I landed all but 2, several without wire and one on the kite.  I started heading home with 15 wahoo but ended up with 8 after stopping at friends places.

Lee,
Holy cow, you lost 22 wahoo? Where do you fish the Atlantis Aquarium... now that's fishing!
I love me some wahoo dip and crackers ;)
PS- nice size to those "sled-hoos" too!
Thanks
Dom

Hurricane Bank (Shimada Seamount, check it out on Google Earth) and Clarion Island have a lot of wahoo.  The big wahoo was caught NW of Mag Bay, BCS.

BINGO!!!!!

Lee, Wahoo is exactly what Dom & I are targeting on our scheduled 7 day Father's Day fishout in Los Cabo, BCS.

I'll be thankful to catch Wahoo half that size!!!  In fact, I have never gaffed a Wahoo, had four on over the years, and four off before getting them to the boat.  Not my idea of "Catch n' Release"!!!!

That looked like a great trip, what long range boat were you on???
