Title: Carbontex Drag for Penn 117 (14/0)
Post by: nicky.phil on May 06, 2013, 05:17:36 AM
Hi Don, do you have carbontex drag washers #6-117-old for replacing the old THICK ASBESTOS DRAG WASHERS ( 5 pcs required ) for Penn Senator 117 (14/0), also need to replace the #4-117 fiber washer to carbontex for the same reel if you have them.
Thanks,
Nicky

Hi

No, sorry I don't have those.

Since Dawn does not carry the washers, I would recommend MysticParts.com.  The drags have been re-configured to a 7+1 drag system instead of 5+1.  You will need eight 6-117, one 7C-117.

You may need to customer grind down one of the 6-117 washers that goes under the main gear if it binds with the dog.  I have a reel in for service and will let you know which washer I used and if I needed to grind it down or not.

Note, since Dawn doesn't have the washers, I'm going to move this posting to the Penn Section.

I believe I've done a couple of those, no grinding needed ;D
You will need this metal washers kit:
https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/7C-117.aspx (https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/7C-117.aspx)
seven of these:
https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/6-117.aspx (https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/6-117.aspx)
and one of these for under the gear:
https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/6-116.aspx (https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/6-116.aspx)

*One of gthe 6-117 will also work for under the gear, but since a smaller one is available, go with the 6-116.
