Title: Lubricant Question
Post by: T-Rex on February 05, 2010, 09:35:45 AM
Hello Alan,

Can drag washer grease (Cal's or Shimano) be used for bearings, or am I better off staying with blue Yamaha grease? I recently rebuilt an Avet SX and was out of Yamaha grease and used corrosion x on the spool bearings, and Shimano grease on the drag washer and everything else.  Seems to be working fine, but I'm wondering if this could cause problems down the road.

Thanks.

i think that cal's or shimano's teflon grease should be fine for bearings.  they're just so damned expensive.  cal's is $25 per pound and shimano's is $50 per pound.  compare that to yamaha blue grease for $3 per pound.  that's really the only reason.  you should be fine.  but, um, can you let us know if you actually do have problems?    ;D
