Is $99.00 a fair price for one of these, new in box, never used?

It may be somewhat high, but when you compare it to the cost of a new Chinese made Senator, it doesn't seem too unreasonable. For that price, it better have an aluminum spool. Plastic spool bad, metal good, aluminum best.
If you plan to fish with it, then you are better served with a cheaper used 49.
