Title: where to use reel oil,lube,grease

i have a general idea that lube should go on the outside but other then that im a bit lost, what parts need different solutions???
im gonna be applying them to a penn long beach and penn peerless

it's not that critical.  for a light duty, general purpose reel, reel x or corrosion x works fine.  penn also has a nice line of oils.  cal's drag grease or shimano's drag grease will work well on drags.  and of course, yamaha marine grease works on all non-exposed metal surfaces.

so i took apart my reel and oiled/lubed/greased it up and then put it back together...its so tough to crank, and  the free spool is little to none, can you help me out

Have you checked the tension on the spool bushings?

Try loosening the spool tension knob in the middle of the left side plate.

oh oops, the tension thing was on SUPER TIGHT, i had to use a wrench to loosen it up, still not as smooth as i would like, does any one know the best kind of lube for my purposes

If it was on "SUPER TIGHT" you may have damaged the bushing and need to order another one.
