Title: 50 VSW H/L gear retaining ring
Post by: Capt. D on July 04, 2013, 04:46:28 PM
OK....  Was rebuilding a 50 VSW and found the Low gear to be 'out' of the retaining ring holding it in the high gear.  How do you get this clip back on, inside the high gear?!

Lube the rings and gears. Stack the parts in the proper position. Place the stacked parts on a firm surface and stand on them with your shoe. You should be able to put enough pressure to pop the ring into position. Hope this helps.

Ok, the ring pops onto the low gear just fine when I do that, but not 'into' the high gear

Install the ring inside the high gear first. Then place the low gear in the proper position above the ring and high gear. Center the low gear inside the ring as much as possible. Apply pressure and everything should snap together.
