Title: 5500CL ROCKET

OK new guy here , if i sound stupid look over me :-[

i have a Gold 5500cl Rocket that is super stiff to reel , or stiff to free spool if i tight the screws on the plate everything locks up , reel is oiled and greesed

What do i need to check , i am going to take it down and see what i find

First loosen the cast control cap located on the handle side plate. If the reel doesn't become easy to turn and freespool maybe the spool shaft isn't machined properly.

The tension cap has a plastic thingy that snaps onto the shaft.  If it's not snapped in, you will get the problem you are seeing as well as a tension cap that is too tight.  That plastic thiny is supposed to be flat side in the tension cap.  Hope this helps.

ok i if the Rocket here is what i found , the white brakes were sled all the way to the end of the shaft
after replacing with new brakes and sliding them up good , put the reel back together works fine

   just took me about 4 or 5 take downs to fine a simple problem lol  ;D
