Title: question about the 2/0 or 111 penn rebild
Post by: Walter_Lars on March 08, 2010, 09:43:25 AM
in the pic where you showed the new 5 drag stack I was looking at the main gear and it seemed to have some crud  do you clean that up before you rebild ?
do you every polish or smooth up the metal washers as part of maintenance and if so how ?

Hi Walter,
not sure how Alan does it but I spray a little carb cleaner and brush it off with that old tooth brush that we all have :-) if that doesn't do it then I break out the dremill and use the buffing bit with a little bit of drag grease.

honestly, alot of times i just throw it back together.  it's not likely to make a difference. when i do need to clean them, i just use the wire wheel on my bench grinder.  it's a little rough but very quick.  alan
