Title: Abu garcia nacl gears
Post by: Coloradokiwi on August 17, 2013, 07:30:10 PM
Giday,

1st post new to the board.

The problem is, I'm in the market for the new nacl from Abu in lefthand (5.4:1) but they don't produce the lefthand model in the high speed 6.4:1 gear ratio only the right handed version. Is it possible to switch out the gears with say a lefthanded Revo sxl for example or any other revo lefthand model to the quicker ratio.
I'm guessing I need the Main gear and the pinion gear to do the job

Thanks for the help.

Cheers
Coloradokiwi.

Morning. nacl is sodium chloride..... is that the way they describe the reel.  I know squat about any Revo, but theory is transferrable model to model. Open as many schematics as you feel as necessary, to check the driveshaft part numbers, and pinion yokes, reel to reel, back against the nacl.

If these are common, then gearsets ought to be as well, for fitting into the salty.
If ths nacl is not there yet, you can either phone them at 1-800-abugarcia, or send them a note to get a pdf copy of the drawing sent to your email. If you have a drawing,  places like kinkos etc can scan it, and send it to your email as a pdf. Here in Smithers, BC, the local store does that for under a dollar.

Should a Revo expert pop by, with specific knowledge that's good. If not, the above should work for you.

http://www.abugarcia.com/support/reel-schematics?field_schem_numb_value=revo   11 pages to look at for LH ones. Enjoy.  8)

Thanks for the info, shame the schematics don't have gear diameters listed.
