Title: Alutecnos Albacore 80W 2s
Post by: Capt. D on September 01, 2013, 02:44:23 PM
So I was sent an 80w for an overhaul, and am perplexed by why the disassembly for the entire handle, main shaft, gears, and R.S. bearing, is dependent on two '2.5' allan head screws under the handle at the base of the shaft.

Murphy's law happened and one is severely seized.  Already went thru slightly tightning before trying to loosen, tried gentle heat and penatrent.

So now that it needs to be surgically removed, how to get a drill there with the side plate in the way...

Hoping someone has been thru this... ???

Spoke with Mason in FL, and his response was "Yea they're tough, that's why we really lube them up to prevent that.  I'll send word to Italy to see if they have a solution." !!

Well, the solution was to destroy the handle/2speed button bracket...

just a follow up...
