Title: 501 drag washer sizes?
Post by: MarkT on September 06, 2013, 02:11:14 AM
I opened up my Blue 501 and noticed that one of the drag washers is actually the same as the washer that goes under the spool. I want to replace it with the correct Carbontex drag washer. Anyone know which one or do I have to open it back up and measure it?

I opened it back up.  Looks like it's 1.41" x .38" x .05". I don't see a Carbontex in that size.

Not to worry. I'll buy a set, plus one for a 280/540 too.

I put the smaller washer on the bottom of the stack. It had been on the top but is the same diameter as the Belleville.

I don't want to run down to the shop tonight but I'll try to get you the size tomorrow.

I opened up the 501 and a 540 w/3.6:1 gears.  I was surprised, the 501 washers are larger in diameter than those of the 540. Same id and thickness. I was surprised how thick the metal washers are in the 540.
