Dom, one of my 114H's has 7+1 already, Dawn sent me a set of 10 about 5 months ago.
The washers are stamped .35mm, but are actually.50mm, I was able to install 7+1 using the stock metal washers, if we go with .75 metal washers  9+1 would be possible.
The reel feels very smooth, I actually just took it apart and tested my accurate main gear with Black pearl's pinion...jus to see, the reel doesn't skip a beat ;).
Says a lot about Alan's machinist, that reel is very smooth ;)

Does Dawn stock those washers or were they an "Alto Special?" ;)

Hello Alan,

Regarding the 115L gear set. If you are using the same main as the 114H I assume the 9/0 pinion is why the gear ratio is different.  Based on that can I use the 114H HEX main with a 115L pinion in a Penn9/0 ??  I would really like to test the HEX gears in my Penn 9/0 with a lower gear ratio.  I will be on a 12 day in late December looking for big tuna.

Hi John,

All our gear sets are come with a set. I can't just sell a pinion.

By the way, I don't think the 115L pinion gear will work on a 114H. I could be wrong.

Alan,

I may have misread but I thought you were using the 114H main gear with the 115L gear set.  If that is the case it seems like  the 115 pinion should work in the penn 9/0 with the 114h HEX gear set.  Let me know.
Thanks,
John

Hi John,

It was my mistake. You are right. The 115L (9/0) reel shares the same 114H (6/0) main gear (the one I made).

By the way, you can buy a Hex main gear set for the 115L as well. You just need to add $5.00 per set.

Please note that the HEX 114H main gears are running low. Once they are gone, they are gone....

I am going to have to order one and also get a ss dog. Yesterday, I think I fried my dog or gear sleeve on my 9/0 while breaking loose a large stingray bait from he bottom while surf fishing.  I haven't had a chance to open it up yet and verify.  I was able to add an extra ht-100 drag washer in my stack.  Do you think this might have contributed to my anti- reverse failure?  Btw, reeling in about 500 yards of line without anti-reverse bites.  And I got blanked while my greenhorn friend and his son caught a monster black drum, a decent bull red,  slot red and a keeper size black drum.  I was happy for them.  Some days just don't go your way.

Today is the first of December...are we too late? I bought a 115 today. Didn't plan on it, but twenty bucks at the pawn shop. Can't pass that up.

Actually I'm just worried about missing out on a limited run. If the 115 gears are going into production (including the hex version), I would rather wait until next year and pay full price.

The 115L gear set production is done. It is ready for shipping on 12/5. Since 115L and 114H share the same main gear, therefore HEX main gear can be used by both models. Hex main gear (114H or 115L) will not be in production anymore until there is a demand for it. Currently, I have about 20 HEX main gears.

Thanks,

Alan,
I'm sure these babies are gonna work fantastic. However, just like the 112h and 114h gears I can't put my stamp on 'em until I test 'em on the water.  Unfortunately, I'm gonna have to wait until spring for the testing :(
Even the best companies make a flub here and there... ask every car company with a recall.  Hey, for that matter ask our Chief (Alan T), as the 113h gear sleeve holes (where the pin goes) had been off a teeny.
After all fishing reels are quite precise tools.
One thing I can say is the 113h gears are crazy good!
Can't wait for the testing phase.
Thanks
Dom
PS- I'm loving the bikini, as it really accentuates her curves ;) ;D

I will have 10 days to only work on reels. I have waited 4 months to do this. There will be some double dogging, stainless steel sleevin' and custom drag stackin' goin' on! ;D

Chile, give us some details on which drags you went with. Also if you could, let us know what numbers are you're getting at max.
I picked up a 9/0 for $65, I just couldn't let it go.The reel looks almost new and came with the box,
now I don't have to mess with my brand new one that a friend sent me, a little while back.

I already double dogged it and its ready to go, I will be testing the insert from Lee and the washers from Bryan.
I see that most of you guys got your gears, I'm still waiting for mine...and I thought he liked me :-\.

Standard style gear set, not the Hex.
Alan's SS Gear Sleeve with HT-100 washer.
Double SS Dogs, alternating engagement.
SS yoke from Smoothdrag.com
Six stack of HT-100 drags with SS washers.

Don't know if I'll go through the hassle to test the limits of the drag the way you do.
Last time I did that testing my tanked 6/0, I snapped an old Custom Striker rod.

I'll be putting the hex in a 9/0 and a 114HLW. ss sleeve, yoke and double dogs.
I'm also going to put a 7 stack in a different 9/0 with the non hex with Bryan's washers.
I'll be using Eric's .140 for the hex.

Neat thing is, they get over it.

Me though, I'm a happy camper.

That is USPS office for you.

I think I will offer USPS Express and USPS Priority from now on. Of course, there will be more money on those shipping methods.

Will that be a good service? ???
Lets make things clear, I never mentioned anything about slow shipping, all I said was that you didn't send them to me. I received the other goodies way before everyone else, the only problem was that you forgot to add the gears ;D.
if it was slow shipping on your part, I wouldn't be complaining . Keep these upgrades coming buddy, we'll wait. ;)

This will give people more choices. This is what I call ACA. No, it is not Affordable Care Act and trust me that is no way affordable at all.

My ACA is stand for Alan's Carrier Act..... ;)

Remember, it's December. All the package shipping services are going to be busy this month.

I'll be tanking my 115L, but not for a few months.

I wasn't complaining either, Alan... I was just stating whether or not I received them as of yet.
No rush here, I'm wrapping gifts this time of year instead of wrapping line on a spool ;)
PS- I can't use them until April anyway :(
Looking forward to their arrival.
Keep the upgrades rollin'!
Thanks
Dom
