Loosing fish doesn't bother me much, messing with my gear does. Sometimes messing with ANY of the gear on the boat bothers me too but  I can't get mad at the clients or guests.

Yes, it drives me crazy when tourists crowding the pier pick up my rods and trash them. I try to be gracious, though....

What I was referring to is te guy I just set up to catch spots and leant a decent rod to not moving cause I'm coming down the rail with a 100+ fish. After I nicely ask. That's why I have friends that smoke. It really kills me when tourist crowd the rail and get in the way when I'm beaching a fish, if that 12/0 hook and big lead comes loose and flies up it will hurt bad.

Tourists can be a pain. I'm lucky to have a private neighborhood pier a short walk from my house, fishing alright but most importantly the pier has a gate. Only residents such as myself and guests can enter.

That is irritating, Bunnlevel.

Oh man, y'all raise some pet peeve pier fishing issues.

Gulf State Pier has a Red Line, and if ya ain't fishing...  Stay behind the dagblasted line.
If you get hurt while rubbernecking over the line, too bad your non-fishing 'Observer' admission includes a legal disclaimer.
The tourist still rush the rail and  if it isn't too busy we generally don't care too much, but most of the time we tell them to get behind the line.

Fellow fishermen touching/moving other people's gear at the pier and they'd better have a reason and/or be acquainted with them.
Strangers/Tourist start touching/moving gear and they are very likely going off the pier in handcuffs or swimming back to the beach.

If someone is fighting a big fish, move! Do the dance or just reel it in.
If you're a arsehole about it, one of the locals will simply cut your line.  ::)

Chille that's what I'm talkin about, all my friends know move my gear whenever they need to. I saw some random person digging in my tackle box one time, they left quickly after that. All king tees need a rope up, or people need to have more common sense

Exactly, I don't mind tourists, even when they're crowding me. But when they start messing with my gear, I get annoyed.....

I found in fishing that it is best to find spots the turons don't go. And if you fish piers alot build you a pier dolly or cart. That is a dolly or cart that has a wooden tackle box custom built to fit with a lock and a small cooler on top with rod holders on the side. That way while you are busy no turons get into your stuff and you can lock it down to a bench so it doesn't walk off. The best way is go light, wear a fanny pack with your tackle in it that doubles as a fighting belt.
