Thankyou for the chance to learn from all you guys. Alan because of your toturial on the shimano tekotas Iam starting to learn to rebiuld my reels, again thanks. I allready have a problem, I bought a new avet hx single speed. I went to take the reel apart to grease the drags and all metal parts inside, well there is 4 screws in the right side plate holding the left side on, removed the screws and the reel comes apart about a 1/8 of an inch and quites? do the dogs on the end of the left side of the shaft  kind of snap into the left side plate. Also should I put the drag in free spool when I take the reel apart or does it matter as long as I dont move the drag lever when iam taking and putting the reel apart and together, thanks for any help forrest.

forrest, that one's easy!  the lug on top is banging against the drag pressure plate.  you have to undo the two allen head screws that are holding the top right harness lug and it will come apart easily!  alan
