That is by far the best collection I have ever seen!!!!   I would drive from Southern California anytime to see that collection in person.  I love the way the boxes and reels are displayed together. A message to the owner, if you ever see this post please send me a PM.

That is very Cool! I bet $25 was a lot of dough in 1936 for the first 115! ;)

That is so awesome it is almost absurd!! I truly hope that that man has discussed what will happen with that bit of Americana with a museum. I also hope he documents the history he knows about these reels.

wow, just wow.

These reels hold a soft spot in my heart (as they do for many of you I am sure,) and this will let me sleep a little better tonight.

Shark hunter it was a lot of money back then, my aunt and grandfather made around 5 dollars a week back then and they were well off, a loaf of bread was a nickel.

Wow, So that was like 5 weeks salary. In todays economy, that would probably equal to $2500 maybe?
That's pretty steep. I gave $1200 for my Everol 14, two speed a couple weeks ago.

Back then it was pretty steep and most people fished with cane poles. My grandfather had a penn he bought back in 1939 and he only paid 2.50 for it but that was a Christmas present for his dad. Good buy on the Everol they are great reels, I had four of the 9/0 when I lived in Florida but sold them off 10 years ago.

I don't know what to say. :o Thanks for the complements, just a bunch of fishing reels.  I do have a habit of getting carried with things.
Having said that, I'm always looking to add to all parts of the collection. My site was updated a few days ago.
Thanks again, Brian, Member ORCA & NFLCC

Interesting story about the gentleman and his mother on the Titanic!  I can see him on a small wooden cruiser off Cuba using that reel....

Fabulous reel collection there.
Interesting reading about Thomas Cardenza's reel and his connection with the Titanic.
My great grandfather booked the band on the Titanic, they are reputed as " having gone down well."
Another skeleton in the family cupboard I'm afraid.
