Title: Penn 50w Pinion shaft
Post by: p-deverett on November 20, 2013, 10:56:17 AM
I am looking to turn an old penn 50 into a 50w , So I need a new spool, frame and shaft. All the other parts look like they'll fit. Penn parts lists part 13-50W Gear, Pinion Gear. Is this the pinion and shaft?

I have already upgraded the drags to a new duradrag and serviced all the bearings. Is there anything else I'm missing?

Thanks
Peter

compare the schematics and see what differences there are.  also, with the newer spectras, do you really need a wide spool reel?  an international 50 will hold alot of spectra......

Thanks Alan, I rechecked my line capacity and with the 500m of spectra I put on plus filling it up with mono I'm fine for capacity just over 900 yards. I just need to find a solid accurate or Tiburon frame for the reel. To date I've only found a wide accurate frame for the old 50 international.

Thanks
