What can you guys tell me about the Penn 940. I have the opportunity to get one in 8/10 condition with a rod for 40.00.

I think the price is right. It depends on what you want to use it for. The drawback I see is that their is little aftermarket for these things. Alan's sleeves won't fit and I'm guessing it has a non standard handle arm.

The reel does use bearings from current production reels so you can easily upgrade the bearings, ditch the level wind and service the drags and have a great little inshore bass reel fishing 20 pound braid.
