Title: Shimano Calcutta 400, handle options..
Post by: Clem on December 09, 2013, 04:38:50 PM
Hi guys,

Would anyone know which of the Shimano power handles would fit the Calcutta 400? I believe uses the 8mm shaft? Or anyone confirm that the handle from the Calcutta 700 fits? Looking for a standard power handle not the balanced type... Thanks

Hello Clem,
If your asking about the Calcutta 400TE, I believe it is the 8mm drive shaft, and the handle from the Calcutta 700b definitely "fits" This is part BNT3444. Single handle but with a counter weight. I have one on my own 400TE. I can't confirm if the unbalanced 700TE handle fits the 400TE or not (I think it does). Any of Shimano's power handles from larger reels will be thicker than your paddle handle. To be sure you have enough threads available for the handle nut, it should be counterbored so the nut recess's and picks up the "lost' threads.
