Title: some more line and connection testing
Post by: maxpowers on December 21, 2013, 05:25:51 AM
Ok so being a single dad on Friday meant pretty much a night in of watching tv and ordering pizza.  I got bored so decided to spliced some 20 lbs Big Game into 80 lbs Seaguar ThreadLock Hollowcore.  I used the nail knot nub system and had to double up the line so that it will stayed in the hollow braid.  The other end of the braid was turn into a spliced loop.  The mono terminal end was tied to the hook via a cushioned snell and later with the San Diego Jam Knot.

The result was that the nail nub system held up to 23 lbs of steady pull.  The snell held fine up to 21 lbs as well as the San Diego Jam Knot.  The line finally parted at a quick pull that registered about +21 lbs.  It actually failed about an inch from the nail nub system so that may have been a weak point in the line itself.

I would say you are good to go with your knots.
