Title: SS tube
Post by: BMITCH on December 25, 2013, 07:47:23 PM
I sure I'm not the first to think of this..but has anyone considered SS tubing to be cut for the spacer that goes on top of the drag stack but under the star drag?? I was doing a search on google and 1foot of SS tubing can be had for $10-$20 a foot. The problem  then lies in cutting this tubing. That SS stuff sure is hard. I was kicking this around for a while now. This comes up with new drag systems we are now installing in these reels. This is causing some spacing issues and I was looking for a better solution than "just adding more metal washers". Any thoughts?

Ridgid Engineering make 2 tube cutters designed especially for cutting SS tube. Shouldn't be that hard.

I've drawn up a top hat that fits under the side plate just for this.

The best way is to cut and face them on a lathe.
