Title: Release SG or Accurate Fury 500xn
Post by: GavinJ on January 07, 2014, 10:01:57 AM
Hi I am looking at buying the Accurate Fury for trolling in Aus, Spanish Mackerel etc. 50lb braid with a mono topshot.
Has anyone had a chance to compare it with the Release SG? I have not seen the Release reels in Aus - only what I read online.
Appreciate any feedback.
Thanks
Gavin

I didn't like the Release SG.  It was harder than it should be to reel with not much drag applied.

Tough call for me. The first Fury reels had lots of problems and were revised fairly quickly. I don't know about the new ones but assume they are an improvement. My problem with the Release (Truth) reels is that they are not designed for end user service or repair. For example, the handle screw is loctited into place and almost impossible to remove -- meaning you can't replace the pinion bearing, etc. US users can send the reels back to the company for service and repair but doing that from abroad might be problematic. Have you looked at an Avet SX or MXJ?
