WARNING...
If anyone decides to service a Daiwa LD40H / Lever Drag - Single Speed BE CAREFUL when tighting the nut that holds down the Drive Gear on the Drive Shaft.
This was a $30 mistake,,, :(
The nut on the Drive Shaft requires a 14mm wrench and with very light torque the Drive Shaft will break. The Drive Shaft at the gear is drilled out leaving only .020 in. wall thickness. I called Daiwa for a warranty replacement they said NO, I would have to send in the entire reel. So $30 later, I should have a new Drive Shaft in 7 days.
I will let you know if the new part has been beefed-up any.
This was a new reel I bought about a year ago and never had it out, so I decided to do a pre-trip service for a 15 day LR trip on the Excel in February (4 weeks away). I was planning on using it as a 60# rig for wahoo but I have my doubts it will hold up.
I bought a Bearing Packing tool from Alan and it is unbelievable, great workmanship - top quality, what a time saver.
glad the bearing packer worked. sorry to hear about the drive shaft...... :-\
