Title: old Penn 114H with older sideplate
Post by: themadog on February 16, 2014, 05:45:48 PM
I have an old Penn 114H with the older side plate that where the crank comes out is much larger than the new side plates.  Is there any way that I can convert and use the new side plate on this older Penn?
I dropped the reel on the deck and popped out the bearing cap and sheared the plastic that holds the bearing on the crank side.

Thanks in advance..

Sure, no problem.  You will probably not be able to find a new maroon/dark red color plate, but should be able to get used one in good condition.  You will need a 9-114H   9-114H Sleeve, Spacing Sleeve
https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/9-114H.aspx (https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/9-114H.aspx)

and I recommend an 8-115 Spring, Tension Spring (Thick, Belleville)
https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/8-115.aspx (https://www.mysticparts.com/PennParts/Parts/8-115.aspx) to go on top of the drag stack, under the spacer sleeve.

New plate from Scotts is around $30 shipped, try this guy for and make him an offer of $15 shipped to you and I'm sure he will do it. The color might also match better than the newer ones:

I've been buying a lot of parts from him. I recently got a 10/0 stand from him! :o
Score!
