nice and clean - enjoy.  Not my video.  Just something I found.  I wondered if I could use a compass to do this?

Awesome way to use the tools that you've got.  Thanks for sharing.

The human brain is unique. Ask 50 people to figure something out and you'll get 50 ways to do it.  Pretty clever.  Dominick

I'm going to try this for my 180, BUT... I'm gonna cut the ID first so I am always working with the full sheet.
Thanks max
Ron

I am going to use this to update the eared CF washers I made earlier for my baja special.  I will just cut to the OD including the ears and cut the ID.  Once done I can clamp the OEM CF drag and grind away the excess to make the ears.

hi ltm
i tried it on 1mm laminated,
didnt work for me,but it did score the fibre,od
so you can use the scissors.
same centre for the id,very accurate.

I saw that video just last week.  Great idea.  :)

I was thinking of maybe trying to tape on a tip of an X-acto razor blade and use that to cut.  When it gets dull, just peel off the tape and install a new razor tip.

To get even more crazy, if the compass tool has a nipple at the very top, insert that into a drill and carefully pull the trigger to get that compass to spin.  ;D  Nahhh, just turn it with your hand before someone gets hurt.  :)

Good video, thanks for posting.

Hey Wallace,

How are those "Magic Reels" doing?  Anywho, good to know that it will score laminated ID/OD with accuracy. However, how do you cut out the ID?

Go to harbor freight and buy the hollow punch tool kit.  It is like 8 or 10 bucks.  Once you have the ID scored it is just a matter of finding the closest matched punch and a nice tap with a rubber mallet and you're good to go.

i use a drill bit by hand
then emery paper to finsh, depending on size
like max powers said
if you had a punch, smaller, then finish with a bit of emery
finding the centre  for od and id is the trick
if you cut the washer od 1st without having centre
sometimes the weave of the carbontex wont
let you have centre
so,calipers or compass, push it through the carbontex
now you have centre, score your 2 circles, cut, refine.
cheers,

cheers,

For the round CF drag, I don't think we need to be super accurate with the measurement.  As long as it is the same or slightly smaller for the OD and the same or slight larger or slightly larger for the ID it should be fine.  For the hex cut and the eared CF drag then the ID must be center and the tolerance is much less.

hi ltm
i forgot to say when your making small washers
poke a small hole in the c/f thats your centre
for baitcasters for eg;#8drill bit just work it around by hand
slide correct size washer on top for a template and
cut around it
cheers mate
