Title: Tekota 300, Curado 300 or Daiwa Lexa 300
Post by: fisher480 on February 25, 2014, 10:39:27 AM
I am going barramundi fishing late in April and was looking for a heavier duty reel for mainly trolling using 50lb braid line. My friend uses the Curado 300 but I wonder about the non syncronised level wind of the low profile reels when using 50lb. The Tekota 300 looks interesting although I am concerned about it's casting ability. I am up for any suggestions.

What about the Abu Revo Toro/NaCl? I think they're much beefier and have better drags than the ones listed above...

I use a Curado 300 with 50 lb braid for Barra and have had no problems.  The drag has worked superbly and have caught fish up to 120cm.  I am not farmiliar with the Tekota 300

I was thinking about Curado 300. The Revo's look a bit prone to corrosion. Looks like the levelwind not being syncronised is not an issue. I like teh Shimano stuff.

I have the Curado, the lexa, and the big brother to the 300, a 500,they are all packed with 65lb Power Pro,,, the Curado is a great little reel, cast well, great drag, the lexa is also very good and has a little more line capacity,, The Tokota is my favorite fresh water reel but upgrade the drag to carbon fiber,,

If I was casting, the Curado is the best out of this bunch, the lexa is not far behind,, for trolling I would go with the Tekota, they are rock solid and never had any trouble out of mine and I have several that get fished hard,,

That's my opinion of the reels but I have not fished for barramundi so I can't really address what the needs are for them??
