Title: Daiwa Lexa 300 side plate removal - how to
Post by: 1more on February 18, 2015, 10:57:08 PM
Hi all, new as poster but have followed these threads for a while. Can anyone please advise how to remove the left side plate of a Daiwa Lexa 300? I'm doing a basic service and got the main side plate off OK (the one with the handle).

I loosened the nut on the left side plate (the flatter side) which doesn't appear to come right out. Now, does the side plate pop off, (i.e.  pulled off with your fingernails) or does it slide down (i.e. pushed down with my fingers)? Hope that makes sense.

If I'm going to be pushing - or pulling - I might as well try to avoid breaking something. Thanks very much in advance.

You loosen the screw then rotate the sideplate.

I got the same "issue" when I was going to service my 300HSP.. I had to look a youtube video to go it.

you loosen the big screw on the left side..
then take the whole side plate with your hand and rotate it down or push the front of the side place down, it will just get lose quickly..it takes bit of force to do it.. dont be afraid nothing will break

They are often stuck on with salt/crud crust.  It can help to trickle some corrosionx around the seam and I have had to use gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet
cheers

I'm assuming this will work on other Lexa models like the 100? I had trouble opening up the left side plate last night so will give it another shot using these tips when I get home from work.

Thanks all!
