Title: Charter Special - bearing touching main gear.
Post by: michaelc on January 09, 2011, 04:49:29 AM
Hi Alan and everyone.

I have a problem with the right side main bearing riding up from its seat in the side-plate and grinding against the edge of the main gear.  The bearing is just not staying put with the light grease I have been using. The bearing is only a couple of microns too loose in the graphite side-plate and will fall out with a light tap, which is the problem.  Heavy grease may work, any other ideas?

the pinion gear should hold it firmly in place.  there should be no shims or washers under the main gear to worry about.  is this a problem only with the side plate off, because the fully assembled reel should be fine.  alan
