Title: Trinidad TN40 and TN50 Aftermarket Spools
Post by: Bryan Young on October 19, 2015, 02:54:24 AM
Hello,

My friend is developing a new spool for Trinidad TN40.  I have attached a picture of one that he created for Trinidad TN50s.

The spool for the TN50 was 27% lighter (for increase castability) and had greater line capacity (if you noticed that the spindle of the spool is narrower).  They anticipate that the TN40 will also be lighter, but the actual percentage is unknown at the moment.  they are shooting for 280-300 yards of 60# mono.

The anticipate cost will be $169 plus installation (service) as the spool does not come with a bearing and the cross pin which has to be extracted from the original spool.  And there may be some adjustments made to the spool/reel to ensure proper fitment.

Please let me know if you are interested by next week Tuesday.

Thank you,
Bryan

Welcome back!

This looks impressive, will this new spool be able to handle the pressure from a full spool?

During testing, the spool is actually stronger.  Guys fish the TN50s with 80 mono and snapped the line on a fish run locking down the drags with no ill effects on the spool.

Finally got to spools in.  There are made exclusively for Brian's Fishing Supply in Honolulu, Hawaii, and I was lucky to be considered an installation service for them.

The TN40S spool is $169.  The spool will only be installed with a service of the reel to ensure fitment of the spool.

Nice work!
I am sure Brian won't have any trouble moving those spools.

Here's a weight comparison between the stock TN40 and the aftermarket TN40 spools.

this looks like a great deal, just a pity by the time I have paid and posted the spools will be more than my reels are worth  :(
