Not yet. We will have to make a mold and use it to make the carbon washers. We will have to wait for Sal finish testing first before we will make the mold. Sal will have to make those washers by hand for his testing.

Looks good Alan! When you are ready to sell, I need three sets. Then I can finish assembling the 112H and Jigmasters I have in  pieces. Thanks for all your efforts.

Sal did a test on this gear set by using 3 x 1mm thickness carbon drag washers, 2 x 0.5mm keyed metal washers, 1 x 1mm keyed top metal washer with original tension spring from PENN. The result was pushing 30# of drag stress testing in 112H. That is a great result. I assume that it could also have 28# or more in the Jigmaster 500/501.

The best suite is 3 stack for this gear set. If 5 stack is used, those carbon fiber washers will shred.

With this system of using ( 3 ) eared carbon fiber washers you will get  ( 5 ) working surface.
By the way, these gears did very well.
Using them, along with other components available to us, we have the best Jigmaster on the market.
When well equipped, the reel will easily be able to handle 20lb without breaking a sweat.

Thanks Alan and Sal,
When are those gears available and what is the cost with drag set, I'm building a reel for my sister and have a great 112h? Thought that may be the reason for the 3 stack. Is using a 2nd gen ss gear sleeve or just gen 1 recommended? I would love to have a double dog 505 bridge, could a second dog be modified into an existing 505 bridge? I would send a 505 bridge if you would like to try to modify one. Love the extra teeth in the 113 gear sleeve by the way. Love the upgrades this site has for reels. Just get a reel done and something else is being developed. Got to fish a lot last year and was in wow when checked out how much you guys have got done. I have several upgraded jigmaster and enjoy them when all day jigging a 14 oz jig, easier on shoulders compared to my much heavier Baja Special.
Thanks,
Mark

I want to mention that the gears in production will not be drilled as the ones you see above.
Alan already mentioned this, but since he posted that photo, I wanted to mention it again.

Which holes are you talking about? The production of the main gear will not be drilled through the bottom of the main gear.

The finished gear will not be drilled threw, so that means only a slotted portion is inside and it looks to 1/3 the diameter of the original drilled hole in the picture.

Sorry  Alan if I steeped on your reply.

Joe

There is no problem at all, Joe. Since I don't have the gear with me, I will have to ask Sal.

I understand the finished product will NOT have the holes go all the way through. The reason I am asking for the measurement is that in case someone wanted to mill or drill the holes to match the gear pictured it would help to have those dimensions.

As much as I wanted them drilled at first, after a few tests, I requested no holes.
You will be better off with no holes.

Will the 98-505 gear sleeve and the main drive gear ( 5-500) along with the drag washers fit into a 210 or would I have to make modifications? Not looking to get a major drag increase, just looking for smoother drag at the top of the original max drag.

Hey hurt locker,
Check your 210's gear sleeve before ordering a 98-505...my reel had a 98-60 in it...and it didn't appear to have been replaced. I'm pretty sure I was the first one to open the reel up.

Yes, the 98-505 gear sleeve will fit a 210 so long as you have the compatible fine-thread star.

A few of my 210's came stock with those parts.

If comparing stock parts the threads on a 98-60 sleeve and star are actually a bit stronger, being coarser.

Just like cbar mentioned. Yes the 210 will work with the 98-505  sleeve, I have a few with ss sleeve Ss dog bryans  drag kit with steel gears.  I tried installing a newell gear in the 210 but I couldn't get it to work because the pinions are different, and for some reason the newell gear didn't mesh well with the 13-140 pinion. So I just went with the steel gears it works great.
