Title: Bryan's Penn Spinfisher 5 Stack Kit
Post by: handi2 on February 19, 2018, 11:01:09 PM
This picture is of Bryan's 5 stack for the Penn Spinners. I'm showing this because what you see is after 2 seasons of charter boat use. They were cleaned out and put back in service. No better test than this.

The wear on the spool was from his old style drag knob I replaced last time it was here. The new drag knobs do make a difference in the drag range.

Hi Keith,

Was the wear on the top of the spool there before?  Do I need to increase the drag stack a little by maybe providing 1 or 2 HT-100 drag washers or Carbontex to replace 1 or 2 of the thin Carbontex?

Thank you for your feedback. There are always room for improvements.

Bryan the wear on top of the spool was there when I first got the reel. It was from the old drag knob. The height of the stack is perfect. Any higher the ring wouldn't fit and the top metal washer wouldn't go down enough to catch the spool shaft.
