Title: 652
Post by: Chuck750ss on March 30, 2018, 01:27:03 AM
Picked up a 652 awhile back . 10.99 shipped. Pretty good shape. Cleaned and lubed it. Spooled 4 lb line. Anyway, I went out in the yard with all my newly spooled ultra lights and tied a 5/16 nut on each just to throw a few times. Found this saves heartache with newly spooled reels to do this before going fishing with them. Saved the 652 for last. Was pleasantly surprised when I cast it. Quite a bit more distance than the others including a Shimano Symetre that will cast a country mile. Should be going up to the power generator/dam on Arkansas River tomorrow afternoon for some baitfish. Got two 32nd ounce jigs on both the Symetre and the 652. Should tell the tale for sure.

Carried them fishing today. Not a lot of difference in distance with the jigs. Still the little Cardinal did a little better. And the Shimano was on a 6'6"" rod vs 6' for the Cardinal. Both light action. Make a long story short, pretty impressed for an older somewhat cheap reel.
