Title: Tranx 300/301 issues?
Post by: Lunker Larry on May 01, 2018, 10:56:42 PM
Just did a couple Tranx 300 and 301s and found water in the ARB. I thought the new seals were supposed to eliminate that problem. It was always an issue on the Curados.
The 301 was extremely bad with the pinion frozen in the spool bearing and a lot of rust in the ARB. Also the ARB sleeve had a fault in it. It looked like a crack about a third of the sleeve size big enough to "tick" with your finger nail. Shimano is sending that part for free.
Just wondering if anyone else is seeing water in these reels after all the hype about the bearing seals.

What you are describing kinda reminds me of the new Saragosas.

The seals are a great idea till they get breached.

Then they hold the water in causing even greater damage! ::)

I can only guess that people are dunking them?

Fresh water fishing. No reason to dunk a reel. Muskie fishers fish in some pretty nasty weather.
