Title: Shimano Tyrnos 12
Post by: davidk on March 06, 2009, 03:21:37 PM
Hello Alan,

First of all, thanks for all the advice you offer. Very good stuff.

Now for my question. I received a Tyrnos 12 about a year ago, haven't really fished it much yet but want to. Problem is that I can't get enough drag (tops out at about 13 pounds) to really fish 40#. I'd like to be able to fish a little more than 15#. Shimano tech guys say there isn't much I can do except clean the drag washer, and that the design of the reel won't allow me to change the configuration of the bellevilles to get more drag. I guess I could take it apart and look but thought I'd get your take first. Let me know if you have any thoughts. Thanks.

oh, no, no, no, no, no!!!!!!!  the tyrnos line of reels is GREAT!!!!!!  you can tweak a tyrnos in the same way that you can a tld two speed.  the advantage of the tyrnos is that you do not have a graphite frame to limit you.   kolekar handles will also fit on these.  alan
