Have this reel disassembled.  Found the problem - a very small compression spring that is mangled and in two pieces.  The schematic I found for this reel is very poor quality - I can identify the spring (key #204), but it doesn't show enough detail to figure out where it belongs.  Appears to fit somewhere between key # 701 (drive gear shaft assembly) and key #807 (yoked brake plate).
Anyone have a photo of that spring in its correct location?  Curious - what is its' function?  Seems llike an awfully fragile spring for a reel intended for some rough use ???
