Title: In need of a schematic for an older Abu 5000 with clicker
Post by: festus on April 11, 2019, 12:34:10 AM
I've been to the Abu schematic site but can't find it for this one.

Number on the reel foot is 891197

There are some schematics on the Abu site that begin with 89, but  none of the diagrams match this reel.

Also can anyone tell me the approximate time frame the reel was built?  It has this type side plate with a clicker.

That's a new one on me Chester, the only red 5000 with a clicker that I know of is the 5000B. Although your side plate doesn't have a B on it, I saw one just like it on fleabay.

Here are two more variants...my 5000B is like the first pic. 8)

Chester, it's three-screw which makes it later than 1967.  In 1971 they switched from a serial number to a number representing the date (either mm/yy or yy/mm) and the last two digits are the revision number.  I don't think there would have been 97 revisions so 891197 must be a serial number.  That would make the reel from between 1967 and 1971.

But, not having the 'B' suffix is just weird.

No, it's none of those, thanks for looking.  I'll be able to get by without a schematic, was mostly curious.

Steve, I've seen a few other 5000 on ebay with clickers without the B suffix so this one isn't a Frankenreel.

Mike, I have one of those 5000B like your's also.  Bought it new in the mid 1970s.
