Title: Saragosa 14000F SW, rate of retrieve?
Post by: Recoil Rob on April 27, 2019, 05:08:20 AM
On the Stella and Twin Power lines the difference between the 10000 and 14000 is rate of retrieve, 41" vs. 53" per turn.

The current Saragosa lineup only contains the 10000 at 41" but there was a Saragosa 14000 that was discontinued a few years back. Can any confirm that the discontinued Saragosa 14000F SW had a 53" retrieve per handle turn?

thanks,

Rob

The Saragosa 14k had 4.9:1 gears with 41" per crank. It didn't have the 6.2:1 gears like the Stella/Twinpower 14k which is why they get 53" per crank.

Thanks Mark, then what was the difference between the 10000 and 14000? Didn't they both use the same spool?

don't know newer/bigger models, but w/ some older 6000/8000, 4000/5000, 2500/3000, etc.
the only real difference between consecutive sizes, was spool arbor diameter
sometimes that meant that the larger size w/ more capacity had a MUCH smaller drag well/stack

also, from schematics, looks like the oscillation is different:

Yep, now I think I remember reading it was worm drive vs. disc.

Thanks. Turns out it was a moot point as this morning a Stella 14000 came up on Ebay at a great price and I threw myself at it, now I have my fast retrieve.

Nice! I have a Twin Power 14k just for the higher speed for popping.

What rod do you have that on Mark? I was looking at an OTI TS 8' 60-80 lb for small tuna here around Montauk.

The TP 14k is on a Black Hole CCS 86n, The Srg 10k is on a Black Hole CB 80.
