Title: MXJ 5.8:1 Single Speed Free Spool Question
Post by: Mrc70 on June 09, 2019, 07:40:26 PM
Hello. I recently serviced my MXJ single speed reel and everything went fine. However, when the reel is in free spool and spinning, the free spool will stop if I tilt the reel to the left. Free spool continues just fine if I tilt the reel to the right. Also, the free spool is not affected at all if in the BIAT position...I can tilt the reel left or right and free spool is excellent.

Anyone know what would cause this issue?

Hi Alan. It happens no matter the drag setting. It only happens is free spool and not in the Bait position.

So I just measured the drag at 7-8lbs and noticed that the issue went away. I then back the drag way off and the issue came back. The freespool is great at around 7-8lbs of drag, just where I would be fishing this reel. So, I guess I don't have a problem after all!

yeah, you just had to move the spool over to the right a little.  glad it worked out!
