Was given a few old reels, among them was a Shimano Stradic Aero 1000. Decent looking reel, but the anti reverse cam is broken. I know this part is no longer available, but is there an alternative part that can be used?

You can try jdtreasures. A lot of shimano reels from the same era share parts, a picture of item would help.
I've got 2 Stratic FJ's and I know what yer talkin 'bout. That cam is a corrosion magnet. Come to think of it, I should check mine as I been usin 'em alot lately in saltwater.
Hamachi's got a good suggestion. JD's has a great selection, high prices, but will often bargin.
