Title: Zero load and zero freeplay
Post by: CaptKrunch on August 14, 2019, 11:23:58 PM
Ok. After getting fairly familiar with  the 320 GT after doing 8 of them, I looked into the tutorial for a 209 Levelwind. The wife likes these for bottom fishing and I want to make sure the 2 I have will work well for her.

In looking through the tutorial, it mentions making sure the real is set properly and says to back the levelwind tensioner where it has zero load and zero freeplay.  I get that zero freeplay is where the tensioners do not allow any side to side movement without clamping down on them, but, dont laugh now, what is being referred to as zero load?

My thought is that the tensioner is not allowing excess movement side to side but is not adding or imposing drag on the shafts themselves.

Am I on the right path or does it mean something else?

Thanks
