Title: Talica 8II antireverse
Post by: Bigtuna101 on August 27, 2019, 07:09:34 PM
Hello new to the forum. I have a question. have any of you successfully upgraded a talica 8ii 2 speed with true anti reverse bearing? I am looking for someone to do this work for me on 2 of the reels.

I was told that the single speed talica uses the anti reverse bearing and that it could be installed on the 2 speed.

I love the reels and use them for slow pitch jigging but would love to find a way to get the slight amount of back movement out of the reverse.

I have heard there are other options as well such as carefully machining more "teeth" into the dog gear.

any thought son this would be very welcome. also if you know any one who would do this work for me would be appreciated as well.

Kind regards,

CL

it should be a direct "plug in."  that any number of us could do.  as far as the ratched gear goes, that would be a more involve process.  ideally you would have to change the "angle" of the leaf spring dog as well.  i would not recommend changin the ratchet gear without changing the dog.  i'm about a month out, with fishing trips interspersed.  hopefully someone here would have more time.  otherwise, send me a pm.  alan

You are correct that the single speed uses an ARB but I don't know that one will transplant into the sideplate.
The ball bearings on the driveshaft are the same part on both reels so presumably the driveshaft dimensions are the same.

Really you need someone with both reels and some calipers to take some measurements.... the ARB is not available as a standalone part, as far as I know, so you may have to work out what the part is and order it directly from a bearing distributor.

i have a bunch of AR bearings.  there are a dozen "standard" sizes that are used in reels. it's gotta be one of them!

didnt 2 speed reels need some backplay in order to switch gears when pushing the buttom?

thats why even the more expensive 2 speed reel in the market dont have that ARB bearing

they do, but they will still work.
