Title: Thinking of chartering a boat SCI for BFT
Post by: Crab Pot on September 24, 2019, 11:24:02 PM
I hope this is the right spot to put this....

Putting out a feeler to see how many of you would be interested in a BFT trip out of the Long Beach Oxnard area to fish around San Clemente Island (SCI).

Thinking of a 2 day trip.

Time frame would be Sep/Oct 2020.

No idea of costs, boat, size load, ect.

I want to keep it to at a manageable/fishable number so we're not all on top of each other.

No free rides, we'll divide the charter fee by the number of anglers and pay equally.

Just seeing if any of you would consider going. If their is enough interest I'm willing to take on charter master duties.

Let me know.

We are doing it on the NLA this November.  Seats went fast, like in one day but Alan filled a cancelled one.

I've heard good things about the NLA so I'll be interested in hearing about the trip!

Anyone have History on the Ranger 85 out of San Diego/Oxnard?

85'er with a 24' beam.

Looks like a nice boat but I have no knowledge of the outfit.

It's a very fishy boat. Well run operation. The boat itself is a bit rolly, but I've always liked to fish it. It also has one of the most unusual bunkroom layouts I've ever seen...

Just spoke to Megan of the Ranger 85.

Looks like Oct/Nov around SCI has the best history but they also said Cortez Bank would be another targeted location.

A 2 day trip for 20 anglers would be about $700 each which includes meals.

A 3 day trip would be $850 each with meals.

Based on what my research tells me this boat is "fishy" with a great crew.

Launch would be out of Oxnard.

If anyone want's to reserve a spot, penciled, let me know. I'm opening this trip up on other forums too so first come first served.

You'll be asleep!

Another update:

May move this trip forward to mid September to late September.

Does that help or hurt anyone?

Working with Mrs. Megan and Capt. Frank to get the best trip possible.
