HI:

I grew up in So. Cal, fishing as often as I could. ended up moving to Oregon in 2001.  I love Saltwater fishing and I have fished the west coast from Cabo to Bristol Bay AK, as well as Hawaii. I still have my first saltwater reel that I bought at Gemco in 1982 its a Daiwa Sealine 50H and I still take it out halibut and lingcod fishing. This reel is proof that good reel maintenance really matters, I do my own reel service every year on every reel I own, it almost like a therapy session for me :). Anyways, looking forward to sharing and learning from the folks on this board.

Where in Oregon did you land??   I-5 Corridor, Eastern side, North or South??

I was in Bend, OR for the Aug. 2017 total eclipse, LOVE the area will be heading back again next summer.

Like Brett said, GEMCO brings back a lot of memories.  Another big store from AZ in the late '70s - early '80s was FedMart.

Thank you for the warm welcome. A little more detail about were I call home, I live in Beaverton Oregon, I do not own a boat, I have a few friends that have boats and I go out on Charters often. My favorite bottom fishing charter is Dockside charters out of Depoe bay. For Albacore I like going out on Shake & Bake Sportfishing and Mark Youngblood sport fishing out of Ilwaco Washington. For salmon and Halibut, I go out on my buddies boats anywhere from Newport to the Colombia river.

I also take trips out of San Diego Ca and Long Beach every few years and my new favorite is Cedros Island. My first trip to Cedros was last August. and I have another trip planned for Next August.

Mike and Mark run good boats.  Do you go to OCEAN's Saltwater Sportsman Show in Salem.
