Title: Daiwa 7290D Problem
Post by: Beachmaster on December 25, 2019, 04:41:11 PM
Picked up one of these off ebay.  It was turning very rough and sticking when I got it.  Some idiot had 50# test on the spool.  My initial guess was the gears are stripped.  After cleaning it up and regreasing I noticed that a few of the teeth on the gears are rounded just a tad and particularly in one spot when winding.  So this reel was a loss and I will keep it for parts I recon.
One thing I had a question on if anyone can help is according to the schematic the spool gear is combined with the spool as "one piece"?  I just wanted to make sure that it doesn't come out of the spool?  I would have to have a spool and the drive gear to make it work again, unless I am missing something here.

found the schematic!  there is no pinion gear listed, so i think it's at the base of the rotor as a single unit.
