I leave for a month long work trip to SW Florida on Saturday back to where I used to work before I moved to CA. I can't wait to hit up all my old fishing spots. I have 3 species I'll be spending some time targeting and that is peacock bass, snakehead and clown knifefish. I wasn't into freshwater fishing much when i was there but i spent a bunch of time researching forums and looking at Google Earth and I have a big list of potential spots to check out so we'll see what happens. Shore based saltwater spots won't be an issue and I expect to catch snook, tarpon, jacks, seatrout, redfish and snapper.
Stay tuned to this thread to follow my month long fishing adventure....i mean work trip ::);D ::) ;D ::) ;D ::);D ::);D
Thanks, :). Good luck, send us some pictures 🌊🧜♂️🤭
pj, if you are going to target Peacock Bass you will have to go to the east coast in the Miami area. Rudy
Sounds like a fantastic trip,,,,,, :D I'm going look at my timeline to give a spot,,,,,, ;D
ha i believe all three of those are non-native. catch up some tilapia and boa constrictors while you are at it...
cant wait to see pics.
I'm looking forward to seeing how you do PJ!
Snapper creek park right before you get there,,,there's a small bridge on sw 102nd pl and some apartments you can fish around for peacocks bass,,,,,, ;D
Hadn't even heard of a Clown Knifefish, but by the looks of the one in the video I'm thinking it could be an interesting fish to pursue next time I go to FL. I'd also like to go after peacock bass.

Rudy there's a big population of peacocks on the west coast. They made it all the way to the west coast from Miami through the canals...... You just have to know where to look ;D

First fish of the trip was a sweet little micro tarpon! Second fish was a legit 5-8 lb bass
Caught my first couple snook today, upgraded my tarpon from micro to extra small and caught my first ladyfish of the trip.
Had a good day fishing a bass pond after work. I caught around 13 bass in just under an hour. Nothing photo worthy but fun none the less.
We're gonna be out burning near Sebring, Fl for the next few days so I won't be fishing but I'll post up some cool fire pics....

Were you guys doing any burning yesterday (1/21)? It was a beautiful cool crisp day here on the East coast, but something was irritating my lungs, and I thought I smelled smoke in the air.
So the fishies are still biting in this cold eh? Interesting pics of those baby gamesters. :D

Someone may have burning or if could have been a wildfire but whatever it SAS I was not part of it......
The bass were very sluggish yesterday and the lure presentation had to be painstakingly slow but if you had enough patience you'd catch them!
I could imagine the Bass were sluggish. We had the coldest temperatures in ten years this morning on the SE coast. It was 40 degrees this morning. Stay warm.
Car 54 where are you,,,,,, ;) can't wait to see you getting in to some fish,,,,,,,, ;D
We spent today burning a couple hundred acres of Florida scrub habit!
Oh my,,,,that could get dangerous really fast,,,,, :o becareful fire is not your friend,,,,, ;D
I finally got a day off and a friend took me out on his boat to one of my old spots and it produced a couple nice redfish, a few small snook and a seatrout. On my way down to the lower keys to visit with family I stopped a couple spots and caught this bowfin as well as this baby grouper.
More pics
That's cool,,,,, 8) now it looks like you're having a blast,,,,,,,,, ;D
Quote from: pjstevko on February 02, 2020, 03:29:34 AMNever seen a grouper with blue fin tips before......have you?
Nope, that's why I was asking. Maybe baby gags have the blue fins. ???
I think under certain lighting conditions, even adults can appear to have blue in their fins. Check out the picture in this link.

We had a visitor at the neighbors dock today and I caught a sweet peacock bass on topwater on my way home from the Keys!
That's a very nice peacock,,,, ;D
So how many species are you up to now?

11 species so far...
My trip is quickly coming to an end and I'll be back in California this Friday. Over my month long trip I've caught 11 different species and 48 total fish!
The final fish of the trip was a beautiful 24" sigh fished redfish.....
