Title: Fin-Nor AHAB 8 & 12 Spinning Reels
Post by: 43eggharbor on February 07, 2020, 08:56:20 PM
Is there a tool made for removing the Drag Guard Retainer (part #AP237-01) on Fin-Nor AHAB 8 and 12 Spinning Reel?
It has to unscrew by using the two slots as shown on the attachment.
Thanks.

I don't know about your specific reel. but I have seen spanner wrenches used on bicycles (and in old time camera repair as well) that are supposed to do this job.  You can get them with round nubs (pin wrenches), flat tips like screw drivers, and I think I've even seen some with interchangeable tips.  Hopefully, someone with more specific knowledge will add more.

It looks like you could cut a piece of brass or steel flat stock; maybe a half inch wide.  Make it as long as the retainer is wide and file the ends, if necessary, to fit in the slots.
