Title: Mak30 drag problems.
Post by: spearo776 on March 21, 2020, 11:30:54 PM
Just wondering if many people have experienced drag problems with their Mak30's.
3 out of 4 reels , only my 30's have I had any problems. I'm from Australia and running 4 reels loaded with 15 & 24kg line..
The issue is that I set the drag at strike approx 1/3 but upon hookup the drags are backing out on the first run- to the point I instantly instruct the angler to go to full and still not seeing enough drag. Lost a couple of good fish now and had drawn out fights where we're unsure of drag pressure.
Pretty sure Australian market only gets the mono cams.
Have sent one reel back and was returned a new one, but other reels are doing the same.
At first I thought maybe I hadn't bedded the drags in proper

any chance that you have braid that is slipping on the spool?   :-\

Full mono on the 15kg outfits.
24kg outfit has mono backing approx 100m then 600m of jerry brown and a 50m topshot of mono. So I wouldn't think it is, but will recheck before I send it off

if you have a scale and a little free time, i would be curious to know what the drag numbers actually are.  i get 30 pounds at strike and an easy 50 pounds at full with my mak 20 (same side plates, narrower spool).  many thanks!  alan
