Title: Interesting knots
Post by: Joao Tavares on May 09, 2020, 10:41:28 AM
This gentleman ties some interesting knots.

What is this one called?

I have tried this knot with braid, mono and Fluor. From 20lbs to 130lbs test.

Easy to tie and looks like it is quite strong.

Cheers

Thanks for showing kind of looks like a hangman knot

thanks for checking THAT!!!

wonder why the vid shows 3 different terminal pieces,

instead of the 3 basic types of line material

I guess he is trying to prove that you can tie this knot to anything, really. :)

Check out his other videos, he ties all sorts of different knots.

To my surprise, Malaysia has a vibrant community of anglers (lots of business related to recreational fishing), and they produce a lot of content online.

Cheers

1) he tied the knot 3 times to ONE thing -- an eye (instead of 3 types of line)
2) he badly, blatantly botched the last knot & didn't re-shoot a measly 20 sec. of home vid.
...not an authority -- in my book

If you use mono and pulled the main line through the wraps like he did it would be all curly & kinked in the first couple of inches. IMO, his tags are way too long for my liking, too. I hate tag ends like that. All they do is catch moss & other crap.

rock snot & goose down & dandellions -- OH, MY  ;D ;D ;D

try Becker Knot (Orvis Knot w/ extra turn at the end) for light mono
stronger/smaller than Palomar or iClinch; no "pigtail tendencies"; tag end points "down/out"!
i.e., toward the terminal end at approx. 45* to <90* angle
I like it with a slightly-down eye (like Tiemco 102Y): enter the eye from one side (sorry, don't remember which)
to leave an intentional long tag as a weed guard, pointing at the hook-point
or enter the eye from either side to trim short -- NOT TOO SHORT!
there's a negligible tendency to unravel that goes up drastically w/ line diameter/stiffness
I don't like it for anything over 10# -- and that's w/ plain ole' limp stretchy nylon, like XL
