looking for an anti reverse spring for an older g mitchell reel i got into ...everything works great but missing spring for the dog..didn't clean up yet ..but the spring is what i need to make work properly..any help greatly appreciated..Joe
The schematic does not show it as a separate piece as though it is sold as part of the dog.
:) It may start working again , after you clean it up . Was a common problem when heavy greased
Looks like a spring should be on it..not there..
That looks like the later model with the plastic dog. If I recollect right, the spring for that is different than that for the older metal dog version.

Here's a picture of the missing spring. This is, as near as I can determine, a '74 300. Don't have a schematic, but the spring will come off the stupid plastic AR lever. You could possibly fabricate one.
One more. Hopefully better. The spring end points towards the top of the reel when installed.
ya ..this is a metal dog ..not plastic...

It sure looks like black plastic with a bunch of graphite grease smeared on it to me.
How about you remove it, clean it & the gears up & show us pics of both sides of the dog. It's kind of tough to give advice when one can't get a clear picture of the part & problem.
Tom ..you are correct ..I apologize for my bad...the whole inside was smeared with some type graphite lube..a live and learn lesson..next time I'll make sure to clean and inspect b4 making this mistake again ..that being said..I guess I have to look for plastic dog with spring..sorry again guys..Joe

You should be able to fabricate one out of
SS or Brass craft sheet, or maybe even a fairly heavy piece of galvanized sheet metal.
