Post by: jgp12000 on May 05, 2021, 12:29:00 AM
My first fishing combo was a Zebco 33 mounted on a short pole not Spiderman or the kid poles they have now.My Father bought it at the neighborhood drugstore, the pharmacist was the owner. The pole is long gone but I still have the reel. This was circa 68' I was 5,if anyone still has a 33 this old or older I would like to see pics, mine still works like new and its not plastic.

I have two of the original 33s (1955-57) that came with black front & rear covers and chrome center band. Those black covers were a problem and kept falling off. In 1958 Zebco changed the color pattern to chrome front & rear covers with a black center band. Zebco would replace the original black covers @ NC after 1958. One of my early 33s, that my dad traded for in '59, has the chrome center band and replacement chrome front & rear covers.

I did not know that Tommy, mine has the chrome front and rear covers with the 1/4 turn cover screw. I think I will service mine and see if I can catch something with it.
